Emma Raducanu has been one of tennis’s brightest stars ever since she broke into the professional scene in 2021. She gave an impressive performance at the Wimbledon that year, after accepting a wildcard into the main draw. Even though she had to retire during her fourth-round match against Ajla Tomljanovic because of breathing problems.
But, in a display of phenomenal form, just a few months later, she won the US as a qualifier, at only 18 years of age. With this win, she also jumped 332 places up to No. 23 on the WTA list. Even though she has not had the best form since then, she has become more regular on the tour. With her fame, has also come recognition and bigger and better endorsements.
Recently, she signed a new deal with automobile brand Porsche, joining former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova as their brand ambassador.
Emma Raducanu joins Porsche
Emma Raducanu shared an anecdote about her childhood and why Porsche was personally important to her. She recalled how one of her first coaches, had a Porsche 911, and she used to see it every day when going for practice.
“I would see his Porsche, I would go wow and be like dreaming of one day sitting in my own. Growing up, I would go to Brands Hatch and watch the Porsche Carrera Cup finals. The adrenalin I would get from motorsports and seeing the Porsches was actually the most fun part of my week… I think this partnership with Porsche is incredible and obviously, I’m really excited to see what sort of exciting things we can do going forwards,” she said.
The officials at Porsche also appreciated this new collaboration with the young World No. 13, saying her philosophy and progress in life corresponded to the values that Porsche has as a brand. Oliver Blume, chairman Executive Board at Porsche AG said, ‟She embodies not only a new generation of strong and self-confident players but, as a personality, is also an inspiration and role model beyond the realms of her sport for young women all over the world. Through her own life, she exemplifies that one can achieve one’s goals if one believes in oneself and is prepared to work hard.”
Emma Raducanu next plays at the Miami Open, but since she is a seeded player, she will receive a bye in the first round. Here’s hoping that she finds her stellar form back soon, and can continue being a menace to her opponents with her clean shotmaking and precise placement.
