Drew Barrymore has shared some intimate details about her sex life. The 47-year-old actress recently discussed her adventurous dating history during an episode of her podcast, Drew’s News. While discussing the Netflix series How to Build a Sex Room with friend and co-host Ross Matthews, the Charlie’s Angels star admitted that she’s pretty much tried everything, which is probably why her sex life seems so boring these days.
“I’m a dirty bird,” Barrymore told the comedian during the Nov. 18 episode. “But only in the corners of my mind where I’ll never tell and it’s just for me. I can understand some kind of kinky stuff. Listen, I’ve tried everything. That’s why I’m so boring now.”
“I can understand certain kinky things,” she said. “Listen, I’ve tried everything. I’ve done everything, that’s why I’m so boring now.”
Barrymore clarified that she’s not sure if she “liked” everything, saying, “I just wanted to try it.”
The “50 First Dates” star added, “Those days are long gone. When I was younger, I had all the energy in the world. But now, I don’t.”
Barrymore was in the eye of the hurricane for commenting on her sex life.
Drew Barrymore went viral again when, on The Drew Barrymore Show, she declared that being celibate for six months didn’t seem like much to her. She said this in response to a report detailing how Andrew Garfield gave up sex for six months for an acting role.
Her comment was quickly reported as her “hatred of sex,” and some saw it as a put-down of Andrew. Shortly after, the actress took to Instagram to break her silence and set the record straight, apologizing to the actor if it appeared she had disrespected his acting methods.
However, she is speaking out about the controversy again, detailing in a “very personal story” on her blog how she really felt about the issue, and how her approach to intimacy has changed since having her two daughters, Olive and Frankie.
“Abstaining from sex for six months didn’t seem that long to me because at my age and with my life experience, it just isn’t,” she said.
Recalling how differently she viewed romantic relationships as she was growing up, she said, “At almost 48, I have very different feelings about intimacy than I did as a child,” adding, “I was looking for companionship! validation! excitement! pleasure! hedonism! fun! And adventure!”
